Mesotherapy - Injection lipolysis

Treatment overview

Mesotherapy is a treatment for various skin diseases, which involves injecting small doses of treatment substances directly into target areas. Mesotherapy allows reversal or hindering of many unfavourable changes.

Treatments may only be performed by a doctor. Next to the impact of the preparations, skin puncture itself is also important (from several dozen to several hundred of those are performed) because of:

  • Improved skin cell metabolism;
  • Accelerated fat cell metabolism;
  • Stimulation of fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin;
  • Creation of new blood vessels;
  • Improved micro-circulation;
  • Stimulation of skin regeneration – replacement with new cells;
  • Hindered creation of harmful free radicals;
  • Proper skin nutrition.

All these aspects underlie the advantage of injection based mesotherapy over so-called needleless mesotherapy.

The lipolysis treatment uses materials containing soybean extract – phosphatidylcholine, which demonstrates lipolytic properties. The substance is administered at the depth of the fat tissue. As a result, fat cells undergo degradation, they are transported into the liver and removed from the body through the kidneys.

Is this a painful treatment?

Injections of the substance produces the sense of burning and itching, the pain is not very intensive. The skin is blushed and minor swelling occurs. Tenderness of the treated area is observed after the treatment; these are desirable side effects evidencing effectiveness and impact of the procedure.

Just as in case of any injection based treatments, haematomas may appear after the lipolysis at the place of injection.

When does the effect appear and how long does it last?

The treatment causes the process of fat cell destruction, which lasts up to 3 weeks. In many cases, one treatment is sufficient.

However, you should always remember that this treatment does not constitute an alternative to liposuction. It is designed for patients with correct weight or insignificantly overweight. It helps to get rid of unwanted, extremely difficult to get rid of, so-called “local fat deposits”. It perfectly complements the diet, drainage treatments and physical exercise.

Therapy schedule

Depending on the body part, the treatment takes 20-40 minutes. Best results are achieved after a series of 3 treatments at 3-6-week intervals.

Post-treatment recommendations

A few days after the treatment, after discomfort disappears, several drainage treatments are recommended, e.g. Lymphatic drainage or Lymphatic massage. These will support removal of the destroyed fat cells from the body. Regular treatments with the Smartlux (LED) lamp are also recommended.

Please remember to protect the areas where the injections were performed (e.g. do not scratch off the scabs) until completely healed. Hygiene is of utmost importance during this period (swimming pools are not advised).

Contraindications and side effects

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding period;
  • Blood coagulation disorders;
  • Severe diseases of the liver and kidneys;
  • Skin infections at the places of injections;

  • Excessive adiposity.
